At Acadian Smiles, we use dental technologies like dental lasers, X-rays and oral cancer screenings to provide our patients with dental care tailored to their oral health needs.
Technologies at Our Dental Clinic
At Acadian Smiles, we use technology to inform our treatment plans and help to ease your dental experience. Since we are able to display digital X-rays and other scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms, we can also show you any issues in your mouth and walk you through your treatment plan.
Our goal is to provide patients with dental care, and help them stay informed about their oral health. Dental technology helps us do that.
Digital X-rays
We use digital X-rays with digital sensors instead of traditional photographic X-ray film. Because of this, we can produce detailed computer images of your teeth, gums and any other oral structures we wish to examine that are below the surface of your skin.
Panoramic X-rays
Panoramic X-rays help our dentists to create a single image of the entirety of your mouth. This image is a flat representation of your upper and lower jaw, your teeth, your nasal structures and your temporomandibular joints.
Dental Lasers
In dentistry, lasers (focused light) can be used for a variety of hard and soft tissue procedures. At Acadian Smiles, they allow our dental team to perform dental procedures on your soft tissues that may involve less pain and fewer interventions than traditional scalpels. We can use lasers to remove overgrown or decayed tissues, to harden dental restorations, whiten teeth and reshape gums.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
We use an oral cancer screening device that helps the dentist to identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualisation technology, it can be performed in your dentist’s office during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions in about two minutes.
Primescan Intraoral Scanner
The Primescan intraoral scanner is a system that allows us to scan the interior of your mouth and construct 3D digital models. This allows us both to construct and deliver dental restorations like crowns to you on the same day we scan your mouth, as well as to create treatment plans for clear aligner treatment.
